Google is known to come up with tools which gives instant information to users regarding anything they want. In the last couple of years, the search engine giant has made it easier for users to find and explore public data and understand it several ways with the introduction of Public Data Explorer tool.
Google Public Data Explorer
Google Public Data Explorer tool has made it easy for people to explore large datasets without the need to be a data expert. Be it gauging figures of unemployment, world development indicators or population stats, with the help of Public Data Explorer tool you can easily get relevant information about them. Public Data Explorer Tool has created 27 datasets which includes over 300 data metrics.
With the help of the tool one can get data regarding anything and everything right from labor productivity to population density of a place and level of debt of government. More and more data are being added each week in the tool. The tool is quite useful for students, journalists and policy makers to get relevant information.
Upload Your Own Dataset
To make the tool more productive and useful, Google has opened the Public Data Explorer to your data whereby it is making a new data format known as Dataset Publishing Language (DSPL). Not only this, it is also creating an interface via which one can upload their datasets.
Just like Public Data Explorer, DSPL has been fabricated in a manner where it supports vibrant and interactive visualization. It is a XML based format and the DSPL language and upload interface can be found in Google Labs.To upload one’s dataset users need to click “My Datasets” link which is available on the left- side of the Public Data Explorer tool. Once imported, the data can been seen and entrenched in external websites. It can be shared with others as well as published.
With this facility Google hopes that more datasets will be uploaded which will give people better understanding of the world. They will get access to more data and figures which will subsequently increase their knowledge regarding a particular thing. To upload your own dataset, click here.
