Toshiba NB100-128 review

Toshiba NB100-128

Toshiba NB100-128 is another slimmer in the fast paced netbook market, with a lot to offer and attract the customers.

Though it is ultra slim and can easily accommodate itself in to any luggage, yet it does not compete the looks of Dell Inspiron Mini 9 or Asus EeePC S101. Measuring only 225mm, it is feather light with a chassis weighing only 1.1kg.

Aimed at making it different, the sleekly styled netbook earns negative work experience with the congested key board lay. The small keys are not practical for the speedy typists; they do not provide a friendly environment and require more careful strokes. It is troublesome for the people with large hands and thick fingers.

Quite in contrast to the keyboard work quality, the screen display quality is superb. With an outstanding image quality with a display standard of WSVGA, resolution of 1024 x 600, and Super TFT coating giving a glossy touch is also remarkable. Display size is merely 8.9, which is quite small. The good quality of the glossy finished screen looks attractive and do not tease the eyes.

NB100-128 is unique on software grounds as it comes with office tools from Microsoft Work, and McAfee Internet Security Suite helps to counter the security issues that nag every computer today. It is also installed with various Toshiba applications.

Providing good storage area with hard drive of 120GB with 1024 MB Installed RAM, DDR2 SDRAM type, allows manipulation through large sized files. But to mention, it is not as speedy as most of the other netbooks. As per graphics speed, it has an average speed, but as far as office purposes are concerned, it is pretty slow. The video memory technology is supported by Intel GMA 950.

The common Flash formats are supported through 3 in 1 card reader. Toshiba NB100-128 facilitates the user with 802.11g Wi-Fi and 10/100 Ethernet for an average network connectivity. As a built in device, it has an integrated camera and a built in recharger.

Mobility is the basic selling point of all the laptops and netbooks, and to support it best battery life is an essential element. The Toshiba NB100-128 comes with a hunchback battery, somewhat awkward looking. Apart from its looks, it provides the best life with 6-cell battery, which is 253 minutes.

Available in a price of 300£, it is an attraction in itself coming with a year’s warranty.
