Symantec and McAfee competing for developing iPhone apps

Well known anti-virus software and computer security systems makers McAfee and Symantec are in tough competition these days to develop apps for iPhone.

According to a report issued in the Reuters say that both these companies are looking for developing security apps for the iPhone, but it is worth mentioning that the final form of this application has not been finalized yet.

The concept on which Symantec has worked on is quite similar to MobileMe service from Apple that backs up the data of the users to provide protection against some problem eventuality.

The company said that it will not develop some anti-virus software for this device, but the product they are developing will help to monitor possible issues.

iPhone apps

On the other hand, McAfee boss Dave DeWalt says in an interview that they are developing a new product for iPhone; he also added that they were also working on a really comprehensive suite for the entire Apple family.

“As the number of these security applications is on increase, so is the number of security threat and data loss odds,” he added.
