Samsung  I5800 Galaxy 3

The Samsung I5800 Galaxy 3 is a phone that offers much for its budget price. Aimed at users who are unable to splurge on the Samsung Galaxy S, this Android powered device is easy to use and works at a relatively quick speed.

Samsung  I5800 Galaxy 3 Design and Quality

The Samsung I5800 and I5801 are very similar to each other, both in terms of appearance and software, making it difficult to discriminate between them, apart from a few features. The Samsung I5800 has a 3.2″ touchscreen display of WQVGA resolution. There is an angled Home key in the centre, between the Back and Menu keys. Measuring at (113.5 x 55 x 12.5) mm, the device is easy to hold in the hand. The left side of the phone contains the volume keys while the right side is kept completely bare.

Samsung  I5800 Galaxy 3 Specifications

Getting Started

The Samsung Galaxy 3 I5800 can be unlocked simply by swiping one’s finger across the screen. Unfortunately, with a low pixel density the text often ends up looking compressed and blurry and the screen is barely visible outdoors on a sunny day. However, capacitive technology helps register even the lightest taps onscreen.

Android Experience

This device contains the Android 2.1 and offers good social networking and media experiences. Samsung’s Touchwiz 3.0 UI and Social Hub helps in presenting integrated contact lists, making email and IM easy to use on this phone. Multiple accounts can be managed and even the phonebook functions very well. The music player also supports a wide range of files and sound quality is decent with reasonably high volume levels. The phone’s 3D gallery has some impressive transitions and visuals, automatically searching out images and videos stored on the phone.

Samsung has added 7widgets to the existing collection, such as Calendar, Feeds and Update and Daily Briefing among others. There are also four buttons at the bottom of the screen that help in navigation. Of these, the Application button shifts between the main menu and the home screen and the rest of the buttons may be customized as per user needs.

Samsung  I5800 Galaxy 3 Camera

The Samsung Galaxy 3 has a 3 MP camera lens located at the back of the phone. This lens is inset, protecting it from scratches. The camera features include autofocus, shot modes (smiles, panorama and so on) and some photo effects.

Samsung  I5800 Galaxy 3 Battery

The Samsung I5800 Galaxy 3 comes equipped with a 1,500mAh battery. The phone has a talktime of 910 minutes and a standby time of about 625 hours on GSM.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy 3 is an attempt to make smartphones available to a larger section of users. Though it comes with a few glitches, this is a good budget device for those who are not too fussy.
