MojoPages, a search engine for local listings succeeded to raise $5m is Austin Ventures led Series A funding. The search technology of this search engine allows local business listing search engines for newspapers, TV and radio.
In actual, this is a stand alone search engine for the listings of the business, and now the company has realized that they couldn’t compete with bigwig of the industry as Yelp and Citysearch, so Company’s CEO Jon Gardner decided for the overhauling of business model of the site and they began to offer branded local white label search engine technology to media related firms.
The listings on the site are somewhat the same as on Yelp in which you can find business ratings and reviews of the users. The source has signed contracts with over 1000 media sites for the development of local business search engines.
According to Jon Gardner, the source will utilize these funds for the expansion of its search engine capabilities that make it a search engine quite similar to Yelp.
