Google started the groundwork this Wednesday as an act of antitrust defense if the federal government decides to take a look at the search giant’s core business. Earlier United States regulators have been scrutinized parts of company question some topics like Google CEO Eric’s role on Apple’s board of directors and Google’s proposal in settlements with book publishers on Google Books. To cope up with these, the company has started doing all the groundwork to polish its image and has called press and other media agencies to reveal the fact that when it comes to its overall core business, Google is a not a threat.
In an attempt to view the company’s feature, Dana Wagner, senior competition counsel member said that, “it is our duty to win and more and more users” and also added that “we want to become the next Google; we are not done with search”. Though everyone knows the power of Google and it has nearly become the synonym for internet search, the company feels that there are potential competitors in the name of eBay and Amazon. These are companies which people go to search for items and they are our main competitors said a Google spokesman.

Executives also made a point that Google competes with the rest of the world when it comes to advertising dollars and its total share of ad revenue is 3 percent. But when it comes to Internet ad revenue Google stands high and holds 30 percent of the total revenue. These are signs that in case of any antitrust, Google will definitely try to paint relevant markets to gain more.
