Expect More? Sony Brings Vein Authentication Technology

Sony has revealed its new vein authentication technology, called Mofiria.

The company says that this new technology is “Compact Sized, High Speed, High Accuracy Finger Vein Authentication Technology”.

This new technology was revealed in this month in Tokyo and is expected to hit UK markets soon. The outcome of the technology cannot be told at this point of time, but it looks like it will be a land mark in technical developments. At this time, Sony has launched the product to ensure ultimate security measures in computing world; to save networked workstations. It might prove helpful in other fields too.

The working of this technology has been described as: “Vein Authentication uses a unique method where a CMOS sensor diagonally captures scattered light inside the finger veins, making a plane layout possible.”

“As a result, a small and more flexible design can be realized in building this technology into mobile devices.”

Mofiria is claimed to be a fool-proof system as it uses veins for authentication, an inner body part which can’t be easily replaced. It is not been told whether this technology will be featuring password change facility or not, in case of accident or employee shift.

Sony hopes to introduce the same technology in mobile sets too during this year. It is thought to be an innovative technology which will leave behind face recognition, finger swapping and eyeball scan and recognition.

This new technology hopefully will give new dimensions to innovation world to work on. We may see more intricate body scanning for security purposes or so in future.
