Chrome OS
Ever since search engine giant Google revealed its plan of coming out with cloud based OS, Chrome, the same has created a huge buzz in the PC and internet market. With Google claiming the Chrome will be the future OS, powering notebooks, million of netbook users have been waiting eagerly as to when the OS will finally hit the market.
It was anticipated that the OS would be launched this year, but addressing Web2.0 Summit earlier this year in November, Eric Schmidt, Google CEO, said that it will take some more time for the OS to be launched. However, rumors have flown thick and fast that Chrome OS will be launched by Google on December 7 in San Francisco, in the upcoming Google Chrome OS event.

Long Live Symbian
Recently Symbian Foundation announced of transitioning over next six months from operational activities to becoming a licensing body. The board took this not-so-easy decision of leaving the foundation of the company to consider the future. In recent years, a lot of speculations were heard about Symbian. In 2008, Nokia acquired the company and established its foundation, making available the Symbian in open source and royalty free.
With the news of transition of the world’s most widely used smartphone platform, Nokia reaffirmed today its commitment to the platform, saying it will continue investing its own resources in the development of Symbian. Nokia expects a strong portfolio delivery of Symbian based smartphones to the global market.
