Windows 7 to be launched on October 22, but you can give up only £49.99 for a Home Premium copy and only £99.99 for Professional. These prices are considerably lower than the RRPs of £149.99 and £219.99 at the launch time of the new operating system.

The pre-orders can be placed through Microsoft retail partners like Argos, Amazon and Comet.

The new Windows 7 will not be available with a browser in the UK and it will also require a clean install. You will have to get the back up of your all files before getting new installation and you would also require some browser like IE 8 or some other for this purpose.

There are many who have skipped Windows Vista, but a considerable number of businesses are not willing to move to Windows 7 instantly, at least the results of a new survey suggest so.

In the survey, in which feedback from over 1000 IT administration was received, show that nearly 60 percent businesses have no plan to adopt Windows 7. Scrip Logic was the company who conducted that survey in which 1000 responses were received out of 20,000 survey that were distributed.

Nearly one third of survey respondent told that they were planning to deploy by the end of next year, and nearly 5.4% said that they are considering moving to Windows 7 by the end of this year. Nearly 60% responded said that they had no plans at that time, however, there are chances that some of them would move to the new OS.

The survey tells about the impact of tough economic conditions on various businesses, as most of businesses said that their tight budget didn’t allow them to adopt the new operating system.

With the claims of providing simpler choices to their customers, Microsoft has just announced its different versions of Windows 7 officially.

Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Home Premium are the two main versions about which the Software maker looks quite keen to talk about, but you shouldn’t think that only few versions are out there, as there are 5 in UK and 6 worldwide. Aside from that there are some nice implications for netbooks as well.

The main changes, which have been made on partners and customers feedback, are that every high-end version of the operating system will get all those features that exist in lower end versions. For instance, you will find all those features of Windows 7 professionals that have been made available in Windows 7 Home Premium.

It wasn’t so in Windows Vista, as Media Center was available in Home Premium, but not in Vista Business.

Though Microsoft looks quite eager to convince us that you can simply choose from Professional and Home Premium, lots of other versions are available as well. Now Home Basic version has replaced Starter Edition in the emerging markets. Starter Edition used to available in such locations traditionally.

However, Starter will be made available quite widely, but it’s still limited to only three open applications and this limitation would cause poor performance of the Windows on some netbook.
