The first announcements regarding the merger operation was announced on the 8th of September, 2009. After obtaining all necessary permissions and required approvals, the merger was finalized at the beginning of this year. The merger should prove to be beneficial for both companies. Moreover the merger will provide a unified mobile network for almost the whole of Western Europe. Much is at stake for them in the merger. They must live up to their previous reputation and in the same spirit must provide better network coverage for the whole of the UK. All the key features of the network of both Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom must be kept intact. This merger marks an aggressive entry of other telecom companies in the UK telecom market.
