Design and Quality

The LG Shine has a metallic finish that makes it live up to its name. It shines, shimmers and radiates light with its silver and mirror finish. Not only does this stainless steel appearance make this mobile phone look smart, though it has a slim build it feels solid in the hand. Colors come alive on the 2.2″ screen. There are many viewing angles for this device and visibility outdoors is also good. Below the screen there is a round joystick button that helps in navigation. However, this joystick is too sensitive and takes some time to get used to. This is surrounded by two soft touch buttons. The right of the LG Shine contains the volume rocker, camera key and multitasking key whereas the left contains the microSD slot and headset jack.

When the screen slides upwards, the number keypad is revealed. The Call and End keys are on top, with the number keys below it. The keys are slightly raised to distinguish them from one another. However, they are slightly cramped.

LG Shine contains a 2.0 MP autofocus camera. Picture quality is quite good, with images looking crisp and vibrant. Photographs can be taken at various resolutions and different editing options are provided to alter photos.

Battery

The LG Shine has a good battery life. Talktime is 3 hours and standby time is 10 days. However, battery does run out quicker on 3G networks.

Overall, the LG Shine looks sophisticated and feels smooth. It performs well on many counts too, with plenty of applications for users. However, despite this the keyboard is slightly cramped and the internet explorer is sluggish at times. But apart from a few niggling worries, the LG Shine does shine through.

LG Optimus 2X

LG Optimus 2X Component Overview and Overall design

LG optimus 2X has a large area. Its overall weight is 140 grams. Compare this to the other android phones and you may feel it is slightly heavier. It is slimmer in dimension though, having a width of only 11 mm. Weight of the phone gets distributed evenly across its area and it does feel light.

Battery slot is present on the back panel of the phone. Buttons for controlling the volume access are present on the side of the phone. Slots for connecting stereo speakers, USB connector port and the HDMI port are present as well.

Much has been spoken about the Tegra 2 chip. It is responsible for the fantastic HDMI support and a 3-D gaming experience. It executes the various functions at a blistering pace. You can now access both LG optimus 2X and HDTV simultaneously, thanks to the amazing dual display support capability of the Tegra 2 chip. This chip supports the feature of multitasking to great effect.

Be it the metallic cover that encapsulates the entire phone or the plastic wrapping on the rear side, attention has been given to every minute detail. Metal stripe present on the back panel does it give it a unique and stylish look. The rear camera portion is protected by a glass cover. The entire look has been designed meticulously and carefully.

LG Optimus 2X Display Screen:

The most important aspect of the LG mobiles has been their superb display. Display screen of LG optimus 2X is no exception to that. It is Equipped with IPS-LCD technology to create a vivid and colorful picture. Display panel is 4 inches in length. The pixel resolution is 480X800 which makes up for an enjoyable viewing experience. The touch screen though provided some problems. Navigating through the phone features proved a tough task. I do not use touch-screen much and maybe that was the reason. Coming to terms with a touch-screen display requires time, so I would say that the display is quite good in comparison to other Smartphone’s.

LG Optimus 2X Audio Features:

Well this feature for me was a letdown. I expected the audio quality to be better. Though in Android based phones, sound quality has been a problem always. Speakers are placed on the back panel. Sound clarity is a matter of concern. Audio levels are good though and call volume is satisfactory. An interactive music player has been provided which does make up for an above average sound system.

LG Optimus 2X Camera Features:

The camera has a very good resolution of 8 MP. It would be absurd to have high expectations as this is still a phone camera. With that in mind, camera function does quite well. I clicked some photos at night and they all came really good. A terrific camera function is what all I can say. The clarity of the pictures is quite clear too. For a phone camera, it is surely a very good return. Also a front camera of 1.3 MP is present to click self pics or for doing video calling. Video recording can be done with the rear camera angle. Recording during day time yielded good results but at night the camcorder gave some fuzzy recordings. All in all this is certainly one of the best camera phones available in the market.

LG Optimus 2X Connectivity:

Interacting on social networking sites is easy as well. Facebook and Twitter features are already pre-installed on the phone. Bluetooth facility is available for data transfer. Wi-Fi is provided for high speed connections. LG optimus 2X does have an edge over its competitors in terms of the online access and connectivity features.

Final Words:

LG Optimus 2X is certainly a notch above its contemporaries in terms of its display and camera functions. Also user interface is very interactive and comfortable to use. The presence of a dual-core feature does make the processing faster and facilitates multitasking. SMS, MMS and other call features work fine. LG and T-Mobile have come into a collaboration to launch a new budget friendly and user friendly Android mobile phone device. The new LG Optimus T, with more or less the same features as the previous phones, is an Android 2.2 device and it adds on further more on the applications side which its previous versions could not really handle. The CES launch has also been part of the DP 570MH portable DVD player that has been bringing some of the highest viewers of the time. It is perhaps the first android phone to be built this way. Thus it is path breaking in its own small way. However, we shall also expect that the reduction in features and hardware should also be reflected in the final price of the phone.

When the phone is in the folded form, the features available are pretty limited. It has a menu, back and end buttons only when the keyboard is folded away. The interface is also a mixture between LG’s s class and the vanilla android system. The menu is arranged such that the icons are all grouped together unlike the usual grouping where everything comes in one massive list. S class options are the same. The same is employed here as well. It is on the front home screen. You will be able to access a spinning cube instead of scrolling left, right, up and down. This is slightly cumbersome for those not accustomed to it.

The phone is also net savvy. It allows easy access to facebook and twitter. You can do all the social networking right from your cell phone. Sending messages is much easier on the new LG android phone. The media is also very user friendly and has loads of features to look out for. The layout for the media is also same as that in Motorola DEXT phones. In fact the similarity is too uncanny to ignore.

Although the new phone may seem a bit complicated, the interface is very sassy. It does not have that geeky feel that was an integral part of all the previous android phones. The phone has received mixed reactions. Like all new phones, this will also take time to carve out its own niche. However, the features definitely seem to impress.

The angles are rounded and thus has soft look about the model. The Chocolate touch also offers simple access to social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter very easily as a part of its one-touch touch screen features.

The sound quality and the music features on the other hand are features to be somewhat talked about a little more in detail than the others as it is does steal the show where this model is concerned.
