class="meta-nav">→

At the descent of the 21st century, personal computers were introduced in the late 80’s, then laptops and soon after all those geeky gadgets were replaced by netbooks. Nothing lives forever and soon by the early 2000s computer engineers at various computer production companies began working on a serious project to build something smaller and faster than the traditional netbooks and that is when Tabs short for Tablet PCs were born. In this fast, raging society Tablets are everywhere and have a lot to prove and show their worth.

Are you ready to discover the secrets behind the LG Optimus Pad? Well for starters, it sports a 8.9 inch widescreen display just like the iPad 2 but is thinner in height and width. With no soft or physical button on the front display, the Optimus is the true definition of a touchscreen tablet.

When trying to look “Inside” the Optimus, let’s try and get past the button-less, wide screened font panel. The LG Optimus Touch pad contains the Android 3.0 Honeycomb dual core ARM cortex A9 processor, GeForce GPU Graphics card and 1 Gb of RAM.ies underlying the sleek outer plastic casing. In addition, the 1 Ghz brain power is supplied by the Nvidia Tegra 2 platform. Even though the 32 GB of memory and flawless application surfing without any lag time in between, when tested, it was seen that the tablet is excellent for running multiple applications at a time but it is still not up to par with the Apple iPad 2 or HP TouchPad. It feels like just to jump in the competition to produce user friendly touch pads LG took it’s chance but failed when it came providing smooth interface between the tablet and the user.

The side of the tablet is equipped with highly accessible application buttons to multitask and create shortcuts to favorite apps. This allows you to jump around and work on different apps with a slight touch of a button. The Android 3.0 technology enables the Optimus Pad to customize the soft key setting for a personable experience. The biggest difference one can notice between the HP Touch Pad and Optimus is that you are able to view and edit documents in various formats on the LG Optimus Pad. This experience becomes easy and palatable as the widescreen featuring amazing touch screen settings covers up for the missing “keyboard” on the Pad.

As mentioned earlier, the Optimus Pad sports an 8.9 inch high resolution LCD screen. The high resolution helps with text legibility and eases the pain of zooming in and out during browser surfing. Also, this widescreen is accommodates movie watching and includes features such as playback and video recording supporting full HD abilities. Sporting bright colors wit pictures at accurate angles, the only disappointment here is sunlight legibility- but it’s workable. One of the biggest attractions of the LG Optimus Pad is the 3D capability. Like the TVs that LG produces, they have done a good job of introducing the 3-dimensional feature to pad itself. There are dual cameras set up an inch apart from each other for extraordinary 3D video capture. When working on 3D video capture there are different modes that you could use such as mixed, anaglyph, side by side or single. Recording using the side by side you can play the captured video on your television by using an HDMI cable and likewise, recording in the anaglyph lets you watch the video on a big screen using 3D blue and red glasses. The funnest part about 3D video capture is that whichever mode you pick…you can always play it on your television- pretty cool eh?

The Optimus Pad contains the 6400mAh battery which efficiently functions to allow longer use of the tablet. It is important to know that doing heavy tasks can suck up the battery faster than just browsing the wb, checking you mail or facebooking or tweeting. That being said continuous use of the video might require you to plug in your tablet way before. With this you can generally use your Optimus Pad on a long flight without any hesitation. The tablet also allows for inserting your SIM card by manually removing the back cover and resetting all the functions associated with the sim.

<param

The Android Honeycomb application with its unique album design is used to manage all your music in different formats.

A few disadvantages that were noted are as follows:

More expensive than other tablets with same functions

3D still pictures cannot be shot

Battery is non replaceable

Missing microSD card slot

Finally, the amazing features of the LG Optimus Pad makes it the number one choice among users. With this device you can easily play games such as Angry birds or card games, prance around the house checking emails, jamming out to your favorite music and tweeting-all at once! The 3D video capture feature definitely distinguished the Optimus Pad from other tablets this year. This could be on your birthday or Christmas wish list?

Key Features at a Glance:

8.9 inch wide and LCD screen with touchscreen features. 8.9″ 16M-color TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen of WXGA (1280 x 768 pixels) resolution

Powered by Android 3.0. style="text-align: justify;">The much anticipated LG Shine was initially available only in Europe and Asia. However, this device has reached American consumers now and created a splash with its features and performance. American users are also lucky in that, this slide phone has been updated with 3G connectivity and is a quad-band device (from being a tri-band one earlier). A closer look is necessary and reveals the following.

Design and Quality

The LG Shine has a metallic finish that makes it live up to its name. It shines, shimmers and radiates light with its silver and mirror finish. Not only does this stainless steel appearance make this mobile phone look smart, though it has a slim build it feels solid in the hand. Colors come alive on the 2.2″ screen. There are many viewing angles for this device and visibility outdoors is also good. Below the screen there is a round joystick button that helps in navigation. However, this joystick is too sensitive and takes some time to get used to. This is surrounded by two soft touch buttons. The right of the LG Shine contains the volume rocker, camera key and multitasking key whereas the left contains the microSD slot and headset jack.

Specifications

The LG Shine measures 3.9″х2″х0.6″ and weighs about 4.2 ounces. The internal memory can be further augmented by a microSD card.

Features

The user interface is standard showing time, date and battery life. Basic features such as alarm clock, calendar, calculator and stopwatch are all present. When the main menu is opened, items are displayed in a grid format. Multiple numbers can be saved per contact and messaging is standard on LG Shine. Internet browsing on this device is problematic at times. Sometimes the screen turns blue and text overlapping takes place. For instant messaging Windows Live, AOL and Yahoo Messenger may be used.
Speaker volume on this device is good but the ringer volume is too low.

Keyboard

When the screen slides upwards, the number keypad is revealed. The Call and End keys are on top, with the number keys below it. The keys are slightly raised to distinguish them from one another. However, they are slightly cramped.

Camera

LG Shine contains a 2.0 MP autofocus camera. Picture quality is quite good, with images looking crisp and vibrant. Photographs can be taken at various resolutions and different editing options are provided to alter photos.

Battery

The LG Shine has a good battery life. Talktime is 3 hours and standby time is 10 days. However, battery does run out quicker on 3G networks.

Overall, the LG Shine looks sophisticated and feels smooth. It performs well on many counts too, with plenty of applications for users. However, despite this the keyboard is slightly cramped and the internet explorer is sluggish at times. But apart from a few niggling worries, the LG Shine does shine through.

Go dual the speed with the Dual-Core LG Optimus 2X

LG

Mobile

android phones

LG Optimus 2x

LG Optimus 2x features

Optimus 2x

Optimus 2x smartphones

LG has established itself as a force to reckon in the market of Smartphones. Innovation has been the best feature of LG handsets. It is no different when it comes to LG Optimus 2X. Hailed as the first dual-core Smartphone in the world, it has some breathtaking functions. A dream Smartphone, LG Optimus 2x has all the ingredients to sustain the hype it has generated in the android based Smartphone arena.

LG Optimus 2X

The dual-core processor present in the LG Optimus 2x Smartphone is designed by the renowned chipset designer firm, NVIDIA. The chipset used is NVIDIA’s Tegra 2. Presence of a dual-core gives this device amazing processing power. We will consider some aspects about this much discussed Smartphone.

LG Optimus 2X Component Overview and Overall design

LG optimus 2X has a large area. Its overall weight is 140 grams. Compare this to the other android phones and you may feel it is slightly heavier. It is slimmer in dimension though, having a width of only 11 mm. Weight of the phone gets distributed evenly across its area and it does feel light.

Battery slot is present on the back panel of the phone. Buttons for controlling the volume access are present on the side of the phone. Slots for connecting stereo speakers, USB connector port and the HDMI port are present as well.

Much has been spoken about the Tegra 2 chip. It is responsible for the fantastic HDMI support and a 3-D gaming experience. It executes the various functions at a blistering pace. You can now access both LG optimus 2X and HDTV simultaneously, thanks to the amazing dual display support capability of the Tegra 2 chip. This chip supports the feature of multitasking to great effect.

Be it the metallic cover that encapsulates the entire phone or the plastic wrapping on the rear side, attention has been given to every minute detail. Metal stripe present on the back panel does it give it a unique and stylish look. The rear camera portion is protected by a glass cover. The entire look has been designed meticulously and carefully.

LG Optimus 2X Display Screen:

The most important aspect of the LG mobiles has been their superb display. Display screen of LG optimus 2X is no exception to that. It is Equipped with IPS-LCD technology to create a vivid and colorful picture. Display panel is 4 inches in length. The pixel resolution is 480X800 which makes up for an enjoyable viewing experience. The touch screen though provided some problems. Navigating through the phone features proved a tough task. I do not use touch-screen much and maybe that was the reason. Coming to terms with a touch-screen display requires time, so I would say that the display is quite good in comparison to other Smartphone’s.

LG Optimus 2X Audio Features:

Well this feature for me was a letdown. I expected the audio quality to be better. Though in Android based phones, sound quality has been a problem always. Speakers are placed on the back panel. Sound clarity is a matter of concern. Audio levels are good though and call volume is satisfactory. An interactive music player has been provided which does make up for an above average sound system.

LG Optimus 2X Camera Features:

The camera has a very good resolution of 8 MP. It would be absurd to have high expectations as this is still a phone camera. With that in mind, camera function does quite well. I clicked some photos at night and they all came really good. A terrific camera function is what all I can say. The clarity of the pictures is quite clear too. For a phone camera, it is surely a very good return. Also a front camera of 1.3 MP is present to click self pics or for doing video calling. Video recording can be done with the rear camera angle. Recording during day time yielded good results but at night the camcorder gave some fuzzy recordings. All in all this is certainly one of the best camera phones available in the market.

LG Optimus 2X Connectivity:

Interacting on social networking sites is easy as well. Facebook and Twitter features are already pre-installed on the phone. Bluetooth facility is available for data transfer. Wi-Fi is provided for high speed connections. LG optimus 2X does have an edge over its competitors in terms of the online access and connectivity features.

Final Words:

LG Optimus 2X is certainly a notch above its contemporaries in terms of its display and camera functions. Also user interface is very interactive and comfortable to use. The presence of a dual-core feature does make the processing faster and facilitates multitasking. SMS, MMS and other call features work fine. A regular keypad and a QWERTY keypad are provided for the inputting data. Battery life is quite good for a Smartphone with dual-core features. You can skip through a day with a fully charged battery. Well being the first dual-core Smartphone, LG Optimus 2X is bound to have some problems. But on the other hand, its quality features outweigh the negative aspects.

T-Mobile and LG Mobile Phones Come Together – Introducing T-Mobile G2x

LG

Mobile

T-mobile

4G smartphone

gaming mobile phones

LG 4G mobile phones

T-Mobile G2x
<guid

To name some of the features, we have Voice Actions, Chrome to phone etc. It would not be, however, wrong to say that the new LG Optimus T is basically an enhanced version of the LG Optimus One with slight alterations here and there.

Android, a 3.2 mega-pixel camera enabled with auto-focus ability and a 2GB microSD memory card which comes along with the phone. The announcement has been made right after the landing of GW620. LG will be bringing next generation of Android joy into lives of many people. These will come in lower end specific versions. Right after GW620 this will be one of the best well devised styles that is going to blow you through. The integration facilities with Facebook, Twitter and Bebo are all going to be present. title="LG" href="http://www.todaytechnews.com/category/brands/lg" target="_blank">LG has gone nostalgic with their very first US Mobile DTV device launch. This has been their very first commercial product to be going through fledging US Mobile DTV standard approval. There was a DTV-ified LG Lotus clamshell that which was launched through an introduction to its capabilities and functions back in 2008. This could also extract the digital TV capabilities from the aether with the assistance from the telescoping antenna.

The CES launch has also been part of the DP 570MH portable DVD player that has been bringing some of the highest viewers of the time. One can watch up to 4 hours of uninterrupted TV through ATSC approved Mobile DTV. The broadcast features and headlight charging for this has been reported to be great along with the much promised ATSC Mobile DTV broadcasts. This was also present in in-car receivers along LG’s LG216oA ATSC M/H tuner chips.

There have been still, mobile and DVD players that could be connected through this. But the new release just makes for a coming back of the older 2008 version of the make. The charge can also be renewed through Dell laptops, Kenwood and other such in-car receiving facilities. LG announced its very first commercial bond with the US Mobile DTV standard approbation but this new release does not have much to bring in terms of absolute freshness.

LG Android GW620 – Review

LG

Product Reviews

Android GW620

android phones

LG Android GW620

LG android phone

LG android gw620 is LG’s latest offering in its existing list of mobile phones. It is an evolved version of LG’s keyboard type phones. The phone is slim. It resembles motorola’s DEXT phone. The functionality is also quite similar to the functionality of the Motorola DEXT.

The phone has an extremely slim hold and the keyboard like keypad is a full slide out one. The camera has a capacity of 5 MP. It has a single led flash. The dimensions are 106x55x12 mm. this is quite an impressive figure considering that the slim phone has a 3 inch screen and a slide out keypad. The opening for the microSD card lies behind the slide out part. There is an up down rocker switch as well.

The microUSB camera and the shutter buttons are all hidden around the edge for a good measure and a sleek look. The fit in hand is very chic. However, the screen is resistive which means that scrolling and tapping processes are a lot less intuitive. The other android phones allow a lot more intuitive navigation. It is perhaps the first android phone to be built this way. Thus it is path breaking in its own small way. However, we shall also expect that the reduction in features and hardware should also be reflected in the final price of the phone.

<param

It has a menu, back and end buttons only when the keyboard is folded away. The interface is also a mixture between LG’s s class and the vanilla android system. The menu is arranged such that the icons are all grouped together unlike the usual grouping where everything comes in one massive list. S class options are the same. The same is employed here as well. It is on the front home screen. You will be able to access a spinning cube instead of scrolling left, right, up and down. This is slightly cumbersome for those not accustomed to it.

The phone is also net savvy. It allows easy access to facebook and twitter. You can do all the social networking right from your cell phone. Sending messages is much easier on the new LG android phone. The media is also very user friendly and has loads of features to look out for. The layout for the media is also same as that in Motorola DEXT phones. In fact the similarity is too uncanny to ignore.

Although the new phone may seem a bit complicated, the interface is very sassy. It does not have that geeky feel that was an integral part of all the previous android phones. The phone has received mixed reactions. Like all new phones, this will also take time to carve out its own niche. However, the features definitely seem to impress.

This is LG’s attempt to cater to a net savvy target group. It is an example of the company’s social networking vision. Not really. However, for music lovers the sound quality is actually pretty good with its Dolby music quality, other than that there is nothing more to drop down your jaws about.

The phone surely looks good and glamorous though not very original. It has the typical smart-phone look of being metallic and with a huge screen which is multi-featured and is touch-screen. The angles are rounded and thus has soft look about the model. The Chocolate touch also offers simple access to social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter very easily as a part of its one-touch touch screen features.

The sound quality and the music features on the other hand are features to be somewhat talked about a little more in detail than the others as it is does steal the show where this model is concerned. It already has a Song ID program along with a great FM radio connection; also there is a side key available on the self of the phone that allows you easy access to your favorite songs or to a dedicated playlist. The sound quality itself with Dolby features makes the listening experience a great one.

There is something called the sound space for the headphones that you may attach to the phone; this gives apparent spaciousness to the headphone when you are listening from stereo features of the phone. Also, the bass effects that the phone adds to the music you are listening to is actually natural and does not add anything artificial as effects that would only have made the music quality worse, this is actually a great feature for music lovers.

Even songs whose quality content might be low if you play them on the phone will have an automatic frequency enhanced because of this particular feature of the phone which improves the quality of the song that you are listening to. There is also another additional feature that the phone has called “Join the Band”. This allows one to play out with your fingers a whole drum kit or a piano; this is great for those who are actually budding musicians and would love to have something so easily portable to carry around for sudden bouts of inspiration. The possibilities of showing-off with this feature are endless!

The camera that the phone features is 3.2megapixel which compared to some other smart phones that have been released is pretty puny. However the features of the camera and the camcorder are actually pretty good. It has some intelligent shot features that helps make photography of a better professional quality. Advanced editing over images is also possible and makes it very easy to write over images, remove blemishes and even enhance certain features and aspects of the pictures that you take.
<p

Also, the blob-ish buttons at the bottom of the phone are pretty unique as far as smart phone designs as concerned and overall makes the phone pretty nice if not great. So if music is your thing you will surely be satisfied with this latest touch screen model of the Verizon LG Chocolate range of smart phones.
