Acer is planning to release its easyStore Home Server for the US market which will be its first home server for the United States market.

The server has been designed to use in homes and small businesses too where the networking of various PCs is required. The server will allow users to get access of different files including videos, photos, and other documents from other connected computers to this network and it also develops back-up that based on every PC daily.

This home server is consisted of a shiny black box with 8×7x7 dimensions and it features an Intel’s Atom processor 230 with 2GB of DDR 2 memory. It also houses a 1TB HD with three bays of hard drives. There are also many other ports including one eSATA port, 1GB Ethernet port, five USB ports as well as one RJ-45 LAN port. It will be available with $399 price tag.

Just like HP, Acer also has eyes on home server market. HP has recently refreshed its MediaSmart server recently and the prominent specifications like Windows Home Server are quite similar in the new Acer’s server.

It was in 2007 when Microsoft came up with its Windows Home Server at CES, but it couldn’t succeed to get powerful backing from some big PC makers except HP.

Acer has been trying to expand its market share for quite some time and coming with an array of products apart from notebooks, netbooks and desktops.

On Friday details of 10 inch Aspire One were given by Acer.
The said netbook is having Windows XP as OS and the hard drive provides 160 GB storage capacity.

It was told on Wednesday by a spokesman of Acer that they are planning to bring the 10 inches Aspire with Linux. He said, Acer Aspire One “will be available with XP or Linux, and HDD or SSD”.

This way it has been confirmed that Linux will be having Linpus distribution. The netbook will have a capacity of 16GB SSD. It is noticeable that the initial versions of this netbook will not be coming with this newly decided feature change.

The launch date has not yet been told nor the price.

The original Aspire one Aspire One came with an option to choose from XP and Linux‘s Linpus also had an 8.9 inch screen and offered to choose between a hard disk drive HDD or solid state drive SDD. The 8.9 inches version is expected to launch in February, wearing a price tag of 299 pounds.

Aspire One 10 inches netbook will not be having a second SD card slot unlike the previous 8.9 inches Aspire One. The Acer spokesperson states that the second slot is not present in the new version “due to the increase in standard storage sizes”.

The second SD slot in the previous version was helpful in holding a flash memory card. Inside the netbook, it helped to strengthen and enlarge the working of 8GB or 16GB SSD, whichever it came with.
