Blackberry Bold 9650 Review

Blackberry Bold 9650

The Blackberry Bold 9650 announced in 2010, supporting both CDMA and GSM networks is a phone that offers much to users. Though it is named Bold, it is closer to the Blackberry Tour. With 3G network support, this model makes it possible to easily remain in touch with family and friends.

Blackberry Bold 9650 Design and Quality

This phone is almost identical to the Blackberry Tour in appearance. The only difference that can be found is the presence of an optical trackpad in the Blackberry Bold 9650 in place of a trackball found in Blackberry Tour. When the phones are actually placed next to one another and the trackpad/ball area is covered, it is difficult to tell which phone belongs to which model. The 2.4 inch 480 x360 screen is slightly recessed, causing the finger to get stuck at times while navigating, but is actually more effective in preventing scratches when the phone is placed on its face.

Blackberry Bold 9650 Blackberry Bold Specifications

The Blackberry Bold 9650 has a double internal memory of 512 MB (from 256 MB on the Tour) with ability to expand the memory upto 32GB. Sized at 112 x 62 x 14 mm, it presents a sleek appearance.

Blackberry Bold 9650 Features

The Wi-Fi connectivity of the Blackberry Bold 9650 definitely makes it a higher rated model than a Tour Phone. Moreover, one can expect excellent call quality and good speakerphone service from this phone. One of the best features of the Blackberry Bold 9650 is its messaging service. The web browser on this phone runs as well as it did on previous models using OS 5.0, however lagging behind iPhone and Android OS devices. There are basic applications preloaded (such as Facebook, Twitter and Bing Mobile) and more can be obtained at Blackberry App World. This phone allows world roaming capacities, a definite plus point for the business user.

Blackberry Bold 9650 Camera

There is a 3.2 MP camera with flash and video recording that is part of the Blackberry Bold 9650. Thanks to auto-focus, taking photos has become easier on this phone.

Blackberry Bold 9650 Keyboard

Blackberry Bold 9650 is not a touchscreen phone but the keyboard, fitted with rubbery keys responds very quickly. However, the trackpad takes time to get used to. Unfortunately, the micro USB charging port is situated at the right side of the keyboard, making it quite difficult to type while the Blackberry Bold 9650 gets charged.

Blackberry Bold 9650 Battery

The phone battery has a talktime of 5 hours and a standby time of 312 hours. Most users will find that they need to charge their phones daily for moderate usage.

The Blackberry Bold 9650 is definitely a notch higher than the Blackberry Tour. However, with stiff competition from Android and other companies, RIM needs to do something to improve the product quality and services. It seems that this product is too similar to earlier models and comes nothing close to a breakthrough.

The handset itself just straight up feels outdated. The BlackBerry Bold 9650 is a great accession to RIM’s CDMA lineup. Also, This is a best BlackBerry, and if email is your life good.
