A more detailed look reveals the following:

Blackberry 8830 Design and Quality

Blackberry 8830 looks similar to the 8800 handset while the silver metallic body reminds one of the Curve phones. Though this smartphone looks bigger compared to other devices, it has a sleek appearance. The display that dominates the top of the Blackberry 8830 consists of a 2.5″ color screen. Below this is the trackball navigator surrounded by the Talk, End, Menu and Escape keys. The keys have backlighting and the screen is light sensing, adjusting display brightness depending on surrounding light. While the right side of the Blackberry 8830 contains the volume rocker, the left side contains the 2.5mm headset jack, USB port and convenience key. Power and mute/music player/standby buttons are found at the top of the smartphone. Overall, this device may be a bit large but has a sturdy feel.

Blackberry 8830 Specifications

This device measures 4.49″х2.60″х0.55″ and weighs 4.6 ounces. It has 64MB flash memory and supports memory extension through a microUSB card.

Blackberry 8830 Features

Business users will find the dual network feature of the Blackberry 8830 most convenient as they can use the same device when they are traveling. Email can be easily accessed on this device with the push based system and with Verizon’s EV-DO network browsing speed is very good. One can view Word, Excel or PDF files on the Blackberry 8830 too. For instant messaging, Blackberry Messenger is always there. One can also use Google Talk, Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo. This device supports voice calling and call quality is quite clear. Media options are also good and one can watch videos or listen to music effortlessly. This business device lacks a camera.

Blackberry 8830 Keyboard

The QWERTY keyboard on the Blackberry 8830 is a slight disappointment. Not only are the keys slippery, they are also placed too close to one another. At certain viewing angles it is difficult to find the right key.

Blackberry 8830 Battery

Battery life of the Blackberry 8830 is decent with nearly 5 hours of talktime and about 3 days of standby time.

The Blackberry 8830 performs well on most counts and is a good option for the business user. The only concerns about this device that can be cited are its size and the user interface that seems a little outdated.
