Blackberry 8350i: Review

The Blackberry Curve 8350i on Nextel comes with Wifi, Bluetooth and GPS, though it does not support 3G. The Nextel Direct Connect option on this phone is also an attractive one for users. But does this device impress or does it fall short of doing so? Here’s taking a closer look:

Blackberry 8350i Design and Quality

The Blackberry 8350i looks like other Curve devices but is larger than the others. This mobile phone has a 2.4″ QVGA sharp display, below which is a trackball and navigation buttons: Talk, End, Menu Shortcut and Back. While the left side of the device has the convenience key (the Direct Connect key that helps in push-to-talk, made prominent by a yellow outline), mini USB port and 2.5mm headset jack, the right side houses the volume rocker and convenience key (or default camera button). The top of this device contains the mute button. At the back of the Blackberry 8350i is the 2.0 MP camera lens and LED flash. This device has smooth edges and a soft touch finish, fitting well into the hand.

Blackberry 8350i measures 4.4in х 2.2in х 0.7in and weighs 4.8 ounces. This mobile phone has 128MB onboard memory, with support for external memory.

Blackberry 8350i Features

The Blackberry Curve 8350i has many updated features for users, running on RIM 4.6 OS. This is the first push-to-talk Blackberry providing WiFi and Nextel Group Connect, welcome features for users. Upto 20 people can be added to a conversation.

Apps on the phone work quickly and can be purchased apart from the preexisting ones. However, heavy apps sometimes take time to load on the mobile phone.

Users can access upto ten email accounts on the Blackberry 8350i, using Blackberry Internet Service. Nextel also allows users to make the best of Blackberry Messenger, Yahoo Messenger and Google Talk.

Call quality sounds hollow at times on this device. However, the voice usually comes across clearly.

A light sensor on the Blackberry 8350i adjusts the screen brightness, depending on the background light.

Blackberry 8350i Keyboard

The keyboard on the Blackberry 8350i is one of the nicest to use. The keys feel sturdy and register input quickly. The 35 keys are arranged in the conventional pattern with the number pad and speaker key highlighted as half black and half silver.

Blackberry 8350i Camera

The camera on the Blackberry 8350i has 2MP resolution with flash and digital zoom. There are special camera effects that can be used to edit photos.

Blackberry 8350i Battery

The Blackberry 8350i has a talktime of 4 hours and a standby time upto 7 days.

Overall, the Blackberry 8350i offers some very good features, with Direct Connect being highly rated. This business phone performs well and can be considered seriously by users.
