Advent AIO200

Advent AIO200

Advent AIO200, a brand by PC World, is elegant and impressive, slim and sleek. It sits on a desk top without covering much space. Specifically designed as a home PC it looks like a prototype of Apple’s iMac.

An ‘all-in-one’ computer with different specifications but little offering for up gradation is a good effort from PC World. Though the looks are similar to iMac, it still is attractive. With only the web cam; 1.3mp, on the front screen and a few logos, it looks quite impressive.

Its unique selling point is its discreetness in the front panel. Most of the offerings are at the back side with four USB ports, an extra pair of audio jacks, Gigabit Ethernet and the antenna output for the analog/hybrid DVBT TV tuner.
These features however are not accompanied with S/PDIF output, or any eSATA ports.

The right side of the front has a DVD writer, headphone and microphone jacks. It has a pair of USB ports, a 3-in-1 card reader and adjustment controls for LCD brightness and audio. The sound of the speakers is not impressive though. With an unclear and heavy bass, the treble option is too weak to make the sound shrill and clear.

Yet the appearance makes it a captivating item for the market, especially in black color. It gets an add-up with quality graphics and the small space it covers on the desktop. They beauty is discreet too which is another attraction for the style crazy buyers.

All the required sockets and additional ports are arranged around the back side panel minimizing the area it covers. The front screen is a 22 inches wide panel.

The resolution of the screen is 1,680 x 1,050 projects a sharp and precise graphic display. Clear color definition and precise picture, that’s what the screen offers to enjoy.

Along with so many positives for the screen and display, negative marking is there too. The glossy finish is somewhat preventing it from being called as a top quality item.

Screen viewing angles are not taken care of too. The sharp and clear picture can only be enjoyed if the viewer is sitting in exact accordance. Otherwise be ready to see the graphics in ‘negative’ picture viewing option.

Advent further specifies with Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 processor which has 4 cores running 2.33MHz . It has been supported by 2GB of RAM. All these make Advent a 2D benchmark score of 1.33, which is not speedy enough to compete with the prevalent desk top market leaders.

The slow speed can’t be an issue as it is able to handle all the demanding desktop items that a laptop runs. But due to this, it can’t get a rank of a gaming machine. AdventIO200 runs only 23fps (frames per second) which is scarcely ideal for a game. Though, it is said to be better than the market giant; Sony.

For graphics support Advent comes with Nvidia GeForce 9300M GS 256MB GPU. The hard drive is 500GB, Intel 3945ABG 802.11abg WLAN, coming with Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit; it has a lot more than any other all-in-one computing machines in the market.

The keyboard is of quality too, and can work for years without problem, but it doesn’t provide any media operating options. But to mention, the mouse is not a standard one. The AdventIO200 is offered with a 1 year warranty.
All in all, it is stylish, compact and easy to operate and manage. It would be better if it is improved in the lacking areas too.
