HTC Hero
HTC Hero is the much awaited smart phone from the leader HTC and is expected to live up to its hype. Also known as the HTC G1 Touch by the T-Mobile, the smart phone is really cool with extensive feature set. It has a new Android interface and also improved and efficient hardware specs. Here is a quick review of the HTC Hero analyzing its basic feature set, specs and other accessories.
The highlight of this new release from HTC is that it inherits all the cool features and merits from its predecessors G1 and Magic and thus has come in as lovechild of these two mobiles. When it comes to size, it is a bit thicker than the Magic and as a 14.3mm depth. This larger chassis has paved way for a better hardware in the Hero compared to Magic and G1. The phone’s 5 mega pixel camera simply rocks and so does the highly responsive touch screen.
HTC is always known for its ability to produce quality touch screen model mobiles that strike hard with their performance. Hero is no short in this as its touch screen is impressive and scores much higher than the resistant screen of the Nokia N97. The Hero has no QWERTY keyboard that is the characteristics of other smart phones like N97 and Palm.

Android’s customizable screen is one of one of the cool features. This feature means that with this Smartphone you get nearly seven home screens and you can customize each one according to your wish. This gives you the freedom to put your favorite info in each of these screens. HTC bangs high on this feature and hopes it will impress more people. You can switch easily between these widgets and also can edit them with ease.
HTC has now developed the next level of Android in the name of Hero with even a centralized system. This simply means that just scrolling left and right on the central screen will help you move to the seven screens. There are also a series of icons under each application or widget and you can also use these icons to send direct messages in Twitter eliminating the need to navigate the complex menus. The UI on the whole is simply amazing though there is a time lag when you switch between the screens.

The overall hardware of this new mobile is worth for applauds and the upgraded skins are also really cool. The music player with a cover-flow interface was far better than the music player in the previous Android mobiles from the HTC. The ways to navigate between songs, playlists is also impressive as it again uses the river interface. As mentioned earlier, scrolling through this make us wait as each screen takes a bit more time to load than expected.
This drives the way back to the processor speed of the phone and makes it a question mark why HTC has stick with 528MHz processors while its competitors are raising high with 600MHz+ processors. Though the camera is really good with its 5 mega pixel picture quality, lack of flash is a real draw back especially in dark. The messaging accuracy is far better in Hero than in Magic.
